Nokia changes iconic logo to signal strategy shift

Nokia, a Finnish telecommunications company, has announced a major change in its visual identity which reflects its new strategic direction. The new logo features a simplified wordmark in a sans-serif font, with a dot above the letter "i" that resembles a signal icon. The company said that the new logo represents its vision of creating technology that connects people and things in an easy and secure way.

The logo change is part of Nokia's broader strategy shift, which aims to focus on four key areas: mobile networks, cloud and network services, network infrastructure, and Nokia technologies. Nokia said that these areas are aligned with the opportunities and challenges of the digital era, and that it will invest more in research and development, innovation and customer experience. Nokia also said that it will adopt a more agile and flexible operating model, with a flatter organizational structure and culture of empowerment and accountability.

Nokia's CEO Pekka Lundmark said that the logo change is not just a cosmetic update - it is a symbol of the company's transformation and renewal. He said that Nokia has a proud history of innovation and excellence, and is ready to embrace the future with confidence and optimism. He also said that Nokia's new logo reflects its ambition to be a trusted partner for its customers, stakeholders, and society at large.

Nokia's old logo featured a stylized wordmark in a serif font with a curved underline. It was introduced in 1966 and became one of the most recognizable logos in the world. However, Nokia's fortunes declined in the smartphone era as it failed to compete with rivals like Apple and Samsung. In 2014 Microsoft acquired Nokia's mobile phone business which discontinued the Nokia brand for smartphones but reinvigorated it as provider of network equipment and services including 5G development along side artificial intelligence services among others

In conclusion; Nokia has unveiled its new visual identity which is designed to reflect its commitment to creating impactful technology through flatter organizational structure innovation empowered workforce among other initiatives
